Elections are easy – in Communist lands like China, Russia and California.

Candidates so popular, they get 123% of the vote!

They’re a bit more contested in the US – – believe me, Tuesday’s midterms can’t get here soon enough.

Living just north of Florida, we get Jacksonville television; we’re deluged by both GA and FLA political ads.

With consistent messaging:

I work for you.

Everything more affordable Wednesday – -after I’m elected.  A month later in California – takes time to count the votes.

What do you hate? I hate it too!

The Pope voted: Illegal Aliens are voting!

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!

All that waking me at 3A with the “Someone’s going to win” nightmare.

Said all that to say this: “Same as the old boss”.

Based on the commercials, the world will be a much better place next week.

Insulin so cheap, I’m debating diabetes.

GLP-1 Medicare approved: Skinny by Friday!

Iran erased from the map: Free gas!

Data centers converted to affordable housing!

In more existential matters, other diversions this week the annual GA-FLA game, and the arrival – removal? of Daylight Savings Time.

To accommodate the latter, I will post my post at 7, 8 and 9 to make sure I get the time change right.

GA-FLA a bit of a mystery this year: With the JAX Gator Bowl renovation, the game’s been moved to ATL in ’26 and Tampa in ’27.

Apparently, the “World’s Largest Cocktail Party” rebranded “The Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic”. If you don’t like that, the new Congress re-rebrand to the Invesco More Affordable Gridiron Classic.

Historically, this our SSI social week of the year. Our GA friends would show up on Sunday, we’d meet for lunch, dinner, a low country boil, and the crowning event: The GA-FLA party at the Gillisses.

Where I bring my brats, the only cooking item I’ve ever had people compliment – it’s almost like being My Captor for a minute.

They even doubled as Halloween treats!

And fortunately, the game party lived on!

The other tradition of the week, the arrival of UGA students, usually gathering on Frat Beach Friday, JAX Saturday for the game, home Sunday.

7k visitors or so a year ago; this year’s visitor count still sizable, including a few stragglers from last year…

All in Halloween costumes, the most popular, a college student.

Oddly, the only time the beach features a lost and found – – kids today! (no fist shake, wasn’t sure they’d be here).

Those who show, delighted to learn they’ll get an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning. If they’ve gone to bed.

That extra hour spares you an Old Man Rant about the pointlessness of DST, though the topic allowing insertion of my favorite BATN joke:

DST the result of Woodrow Wilson choosing ‘dare’ at a drunken Leage of Nations party.

But in breaking news, we’ve just received a mailer: This the most important midterm IN HISTORY – – democracy on the ballot!

Oddly, I’ve received multiple texts and phone calls with the same message…

And some great business financing offers!

But to enable Chinese-style voting and minimize confusion, the multiple candidates/same name is being ‘tested’ in Alaska. Soon, 63 Senators named Dan Sullivan!

Inspired by that, I’m running for Secretary of State in Indiana – the incumbent James Chess is a LIAR, and I’ll be working for you.

Once the votes are counted, let the impeachments and investigations begin!

Reminding me of my high-school driving class:

My friend Rick a terrible driver.

My other friend Dave even worse.

The car in the ditch either way…

ENHANCE YOUR ENJOYMENT OF THIS POST, PAIR WITH THE FOLLOWING ‘AGING HIPSTER MUSIC/READING’:

New Tindersticks album out in March, first single out now. English band, around a long time. David Kitt a sometimes member, who is a fave-rave.

And Love Is Not Enough still available on Amazon. What a great read for anyone who has dealt with mental health or addiction issues. Or just wants to read about family love and recovery. And a great way to find out who Danny really was.
