Life’s best moments the little ones.
The big moments pretty darn memorable too.
But, the election a big event…
As an aside, from the internet: “An event a collection of moments occurring within a specific time period, moments points in time when an event occurs”.
Yeah, confused me too. Google AI! (Shakes fist angrily!)
… dreaded by most Americans, now universally glad it’s over.
The fallout almost as humorous as what the candidates were spouting on the trail, particularly the late night ‘comedians’. But I am eager to hear them tell us what country they’re moving to, and who to vote for in ’28.
My ’28 candidate? I LIKE IKE! Un-freeze Ike and make America great great again!
As another aside, a lot of folks think Trump’s evil incarnate – evil objects to the association -but this country can, and has, survived just about everything, so I think we’ll be OK – I’m confident this won’t be the last presidential election.
I was reminded of that at the wedding, briefly discussing the election with the woman next to me, who said “It takes 20% of a brain to know who to vote for!” After the cocktail hour, that was as much brain as I was working with, so there’s that…
On the plus side, My Captor has been de-flouriding our water for years, so a time saver ahead!
But events/moments top of mind after our nephew’s San Diego wedding, a family reunion on My Captor’s side, with all 6 siblings and 10 cousins attending.
The truism is true that weddings and funerals are surrogate family reunions, and this one was a blast.
Arrival on Friday, welcoming party that night, wedding/reception on Saturday evening, Sunday relaxation.
As a third aside – two short of a BATN record – we’ll leave out scheduling during the GA-FLA game, as I’ve already girded my loins on that one.
I’m a big fan of the Father of the Bride toast, but this one confused me – perhaps I was hoping he’d promise to cut our taxes, guard social security, or attack Lichtenstein – I’ve been hearing all that recently, so expectations…
I do recall an ending that said the couple would deal with big issues as a team, but they should have plenty of mosquito repellent for the small issues.
In addition to seeing family members we hadn’t seen for a while, there’s great joy in watching adults relive their childhoods at the reception…
Nearly as big a moment (event?), was spending the 3 days before the wedding with our son, his wife and Ella, our 5 year old granddaughter.
We hadn’t seen Ella for a year, but she took to My Captor immediately, we got to walk her to school and in the school’s Halloween parade, and trick or treated with her.
And My Captor and our son rearranged their house, with Ella ending up with a bigger room, so all good!
But perhaps the biggest event (definitely not just a moment) in the country these days a Taylor Swift concert – which is where our daughter who missed the SD action was with her daughter Nora.
The description of the pre-show bracelet trading, T-shirt buying, and ‘love atmosphere’, reminds me of a Grateful Dead show – but without the drugs.
And the girls (Final aside – our niece had attended a Taylor show and warned they should hit the bathroom during their less liked songs – due to a stadium full of women) had a fabulous time.
But viewed properly, moments/events all around us: Small, medium and large.
Our opportunity? Savor them for all their worth.
